Community Supported Art -- 1st Pick Up Event -- Sunday September 24th, 3-5PM!
Join us for the 2017 COMMUNITY SUPPORTED ART PICK-UP Event
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24th 3-5PM at Esther Klein Gallery
3600 Market Street, Philadelphia PA
Free and open to the public.
Grizzly Grizzly & Co. is thrilled to announce the first pick up event for the 2017 Edition of our Community Supported Art initiative. Like a Community Supported Agriculture program, Community Supported Art (CSA) supports a direct maker-to-buyer relationship between artists and collectors working and living in the Philadelphia region. This free, public event will be an opportunity to view samples from each of the 6 artist editions, meet the artists while enjoying light refreshments courtesy of Esther Klein Gallery, and purchase a share. Shareholders will be able to bring home the first two artworks of the season by Alexis Nutini and Lucia Thomé.

For the 2017 CSA, Alexis Nutini has created a variable edition uniquely printed reduction woodcuts, in which each print will have six to eight layers of color. Although all of the prints come from the same block, each will be distinct based on the colors used and stage of the block. Lucia Thomé has created a series of glazed ceramic lions, inspired by the imagery of Edward Hicks and the creatures contained within his sixty-two versions of the painting, 'Peaceable Kingdom.' Each slip-cast sculpture in the edition features a unique glazing technique.

Surrounding the artworks from the CSA is the current exhibition at Esther Klein Gallery, A Mesh is Also a Snare, curated by and featuring the members of Grizzly Grizzly
